Modern foot surgery techniques requires highly skilled and experienced foot surgeons with a thorough understanding of foot mechanics and its relationship to the whole lower limb. The techniques utilised by our foot surgeons at London Foot & Ankle Surgery allow you to return to your footwear and desired activity levels sooner than ever before.

Common Operations Performed by Our Foot Surgeons Include:

Bunion Surgery:

foot surgery Bunion or Hallux Valgus deformity, as it is medically termed, is a deformity when the big toe moves across towards the 2nd toe over time. The cause of bunion deformity appears to be genetic and often made worse by poor footwear choice. Modern techniques have allowed quicker weightbearing and return to normal shoes with minimal post operative discomfort. It is well known that bunion deformity progresses over time and bunion surgery is the only solution to re-align the foot and restore full function. The bunion surgery techniques developed at our foot clinic ensure the complete assessment of your bunion deformity and surgical correction allowing you to return to your foot wear and normal life sooner.

Tailors Bunionette (Mini Bunion):

foot surgery A bunionette is a bunion affecting the 5th metatarsal and little toe. Bunionette surgery involves realigning the little toe and the metatarsal to reduce the overall width of the forefoot. The bunionette causes splaying of the forefoot with a bursa that remain swollen over the side of the foot. Corrective surgery for bunionette allows realigning the bones to the little toe thus allowing better footwear fitting and pain relief. For more information click here…

Hammer Toe Surgery:

foot surgeryfoot surgery We have revolutionised hammer toe surgery over the last few years. Latest implants used at our foot surgery clinic include the Nextra hammer toe implant from the USA. These implants allow the bones to be corrected and held in position internally without wires sticking out for 6 weeks as with traditional hammer toe surgery. Mr Nazir performed the first hammer toe surgery using Nextra Implant in the UK and has performed over a hundred operations with this technique to date. For more information click here…..

Flat Foot Corrective Surgery:

foot surgery Flat foot can often cause problems due to poor mechanical stability of the foot and excessive strain to the joint, ligaments and tendons. The ligaments and tendons fail over time resulting in pain, inflammation and instability. Some of the common causes of flat foot can include genetic pre-disposition, tendon failure known as PTTD and injuries that are either due to trauma or over use. We use the hyprocure minimally invasive implant for flexible flat foot correction. Most flat foot problems can be treated with orthotics and insoles devices but occasionally surgical management is required to correct the deformity and restore foot function.
