Gait Analysis

Gait analysis is a non-invasive method of accurately measuring the way you move and is useful in identifying conditions of the feet and lower limbs. Should a gait analysis be recommended, you will be asked to run or walk for a few minutes on a treadmill while a video is made of your feet. This footage is then slowed down and analysed in detail by a podiatrist who will explain the findings. Gait analysis can also be useful in maximising sport and exercise outcomes, where investigation of the body’s movement and efficiency can provide information that suggest ways to improve how you move. By slowing the video down and viewing the different phases of gait in detail, podiatrists can help identify certain movements which may be triggering injuries or affecting running efficiency. Our podiatric team will provide detailed information on any findings following a gait analysis. Using these detailed evaluations of your biomechanics a podiatrist may come up with bespoke methods to improve various foot or postural conditions or simply improve your bodies efficiency for sports related activities.
