Mr Ewan Kannegieter

Overview

Mr Ewan Kannegieter is a UK-trained Consultant Podiatric Surgeon specialising in the assessment and surgical management of foot and ankle disorders. He has extensive experience across elective, reconstructive and revision foot surgery and is known for a calm, evidence-based approach that prioritises appropriate intervention and long-term outcomes.

Qualification

He completed his postgraduate surgical training through the nationally governed UK podiatric surgery pathway, with training centres in Colchester, Ilkeston and Reading. He holds Fellowship in Podiatric Surgery from the Royal College of Podiatry and Fellowship of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He also holds an academic appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medical Sciences in the United States, reflecting ongoing involvement in education and international collaboration.

Mr Kannegieter’s clinical practice spans the full spectrum of foot surgery, including hallux valgus and lesser toe deformity, as well as midfoot and some hindfoot pathology, sportsrelated injuries and chronic heel pain. Where appropriate, he places strong emphasis on nonoperative management and shared decision-making.

Currently

He practises privately at London Foot and Ankle Surgery as part of a multidisciplinary consultant team and also leads an established specialist foot surgery practice in Essex. He is recognised by major UK insurers and maintains a practice grounded in careful assessment, proportionate intervention and clinical judgement.

Specialism

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Kannegieter has held senior professional leadership roles. He is Immediate Past Dean of Podiatric Surgery at the Royal College of Podiatry and has been closely involved in national training standards, clinical governance and service development within foot and ankle surgery.
