About Mr Ben Yates

Mr Ben Yates is a highly experienced Consultant Podiatric Surgeon with a long-standing career dedicated to the treatment of foot and ankle conditions.

His clinical approach is centred around delivering care within a multidisciplinary framework, offering patients a pathway that ranges from conservative treatments through to advanced surgical intervention where appropriate.

Experience & Clinical Expertise

With over three decades of experience, Mr Yates has performed more than 14,000 foot and ankle procedures, the majority of which are carried out as day-case surgery under local or general anaesthetic, or sedation.

His areas of expertise include:

• Surgical correction of bunions
• Hammer toe and forefoot deformities
• Flat foot correction
• Arthritis of the foot, particularly affecting the big toe joint
• Neuroma surgery
• Sports-related foot and ankle injuries
• Achilles tendon and ankle ligament conditions
• Management of the diabetic foot

In addition to surgical care, Mr Yates offers a range of non-surgical treatments, including:

• Orthotics
• Injection therapies (including cortisone, hyaluronic acid and PRP)
• Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT)

Education & Qualifications

Mr Yates qualified as a podiatrist in 1989, achieving distinction and a clinical prize. He completed his surgical fellowship in 1997 following training in Northampton, London, and Australia.

He also holds a Master’s degree in Sports Injuries and Management, further supporting his expertise in treating both everyday and athletic-related foot conditions.

Leadership, Research & Professional Contribution

Mr Yates is a Fellow of the Royal College of Podiatry and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons.

Throughout his career, he has contributed significantly to education, research, and professional development within foot and ankle surgery. His work includes:

• Editorial involvement in clinical textbooks
• Delivery of postgraduate surgical teaching

He has also been recognised for his contribution to the profession, receiving the Royal College of Podiatry’s Meritorious Award.

Current Practice

Mr Yates previously worked as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at Great Western Hospital in Swindon and now practises privately in central London as part of the multidisciplinary team at London Foot & Ankle Surgery.
